It's my understanding they had small and large step 38's this year, but my small step non-staggered with labbed Hydro 29 QuadIVs goes 81.9 GPS w/ mid fuel and 4 people in boat. I think it's a mid 80's boat with a good set of Bravo's on it.

I am lookinf for the old brochure but I thought they were advertised at 86 for the 38 and 88 for the 35 models. I am sure some one who owns one will chime in and give you exact info in a day or two.

You guys are right on...... two hulls that year. Araond 86 is what I found out from asking around.

A good friend of mine got 92 out of his 35 with the big steps and the right props.

There was only one hull 38 in 2000. There were however two different top decks. The lightning with the windshield and the Fever(race boat) with the fairing and no side walkaround. Fountain did not introduce the larger step bottom until 2002 on the 38 lightning and offered this boat in a side by side engine configuration and short stagger configuration. The Lightning that was introduced in 1999 intil 2001 was the small step hull.
