I have a '94 27Fever (no-step hull) single with a 502mag, carb engine. It has a right hand rotation prop (Mirage 23 Plus) Performance wise the Mirage is OK...quick out of the hole and top end is okay, but I have to drag my starboard tab to keep it from listing to starboard. I have a chance to buy a Hydromotive Q-IV 22P left hand rotation prop.
1st Question: Will the Hydro Q-IV performance be about the same?
2nd Question: What else besides changing-out the prop will I need to do to make the change? Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

thunderstruck27.i have the same year boat as you.i have played around w/a few props.everybody says stay w/the left hand prop on a fountain with a single motor.they are faster and you do not have the listing problems assocated w/right hand props.the factory prop i belive for your boat and year would probley be a mach 1 stren-driver,24 four blade, left hand.i some times run 26bravo.it has a good cruise rpm and [email protected] can avarage about 2.5-3mpg at that speed.i can only trun the 26 at wide opean throddle at 4700rpm.with the 24 i can turn it 5100rpm.hope this helps.brad

My '94 27 had a LH hydro and I never had to drag a tab.
You have to reverse the throw at the shifter to run a LH prop. Peice of cake to swap over. Sometimes the cable needs tweaked at the shift bracket to fine tune when swapped over.

BC and US1 - From what you guys say I think I will do a trial run with 24 Hydro lefty...see how that goes. I'm in the process of buying all new guages for my 27 because the only one thats working is my Oil pressure. The tach works sporadically so I haven't been able to tell whats happening at WOP or even how fast I'm going. My GPS speedo will help there. Anyway, I'm thinking the guages are a winter project so may just go by feel with the prop till then.
US1 - When you say "reverse the throw at the shifter" does that mean I should turn the shifter arm 180 degrees? I don't want to be a slinky here
, but my previous boat had the Mercruiser single shift/accel arm so I'm not too familiar with these.
Thanks to you both for the input.
