Question Steering Wheels

I am looking to replace the three spoke steering wheel on my 38 Lightning. Question though; Can I get a flat bottom wheel? I was doing some reading and there was mention of "non-centered" hydraulic steering. I don't want the wheel to be crooked all of the time when the boat is running straight, or do i need to look for another three spoke wheel that wouldn't matter which way is up... for a lack of better terms??? Please help.

You will need a symmetrical wheel, they are ideal for boats equipped with non - centering hydraulic systems,as the wheel will always appear to be straight.

So is all hydraulic steering referred to as non-centered, or how do I know if mine is or isn't??

Yes, just the nature of a fluid system vs a mechanical one. Thus the reasoning for a wheel with equally spaced spokes, will look and feel right most of the time.

Like so...my buddy bought one with the black "grips" at 10 and 2 - they are all over the place and it is never right.

So I wanted to put this wheel on the 47 and it sounds like it's not a good idea then?!

Which adaptor will I need after I remove the stock wheel?

The flat part of the wheel will be clocked in different positions every time you use the boat, when the drives are straight. For the Isotta wheels, you will most likely need a new hub.
