Fountain Hatch Door

The top hatch (right above the doors) in my 35' Fountain has a crack in it. I tried repairing it with epoxy, but that ended up looking pretty crappy and didn't work, so now I'm looking for a replacement. Does anyone out there have one off a boat that they'd be willing to sell? I know I'll probably have to go to Fountain directly to get a new one, but figured it couldn't hurt to ask. Thanks to anyone who might be able to help. PM me if you have anything-

Ben

If your hatch is salvageable, use an Acrylic solvent glue. Might have better luck than plain 2 part epoxy. We use it at work and the acrylic will break before the joint. It's like water and wicks into the joint for a no glue look.

Sounds like it's worth a try- where do you get this stuff? Any brand names to mention? Thanks!

if you still have all the hardware I would think an acryilic shop in town could replicate it

We use Weld-On solvent. Should be able to buy it from your local plastic supplier. Might even just let them try to glue it. Might be cheaper than you buying a can of it,or as mentioned have them price one out for you. If bought from Fountain, I believe it will come with the hinge installed, at least mine was when I had replace one of my doors.

I think anyone that's had a Fountain any length of time
has broken a door at least once.

Good info to have since I just broke one this past weekend.

4th Fountain in 15 years and 3rd broken door.

I googled Weld-On that US1 talks about and found several dealers that sell it. Also found a site that explains how to use any of the several versions that Weld-On produces. It looked to me that Weld-on 40 would be the one for a novice to use, but it is a 2 part (solid and catalyst). Sounds like really good stuff thought. I'm going to try some on my doors where they're broken at the henges.

We use ehthylenedycloride....Will be strong as the plexi itself. Save up some money and buy one from Fountain next spring. I had to replace my left door and it fit without any issues.
