Staggard Exhaust system
#1
Soon I will be removing my 2 525'from a 2006 42 EX. for a freshing up. I might change out the exhaust system. Let me know if anyone might be interested in the complete system. The system is a full OEM silent choice system. Port engine has the Tall Headers, Starboard engine has standard Bravo 525CMI Haeaders.
Hope to have engines out this week. No pictures at this time but any 42Ex that is listed and shows the engine compartment will give you an idea of what the system looks like.

Just wondering, how many hours do you have on the engines?
Are you freshing them up because of a low compression test?
I have always wondered how long the 525's last, it would be interesting to see the shot of the hours at each r.p.m. level to see how hard the boat has been ran.

About 220hours. I'm taking the engines out to do some detailing in the engine compartment. I just figured at this time with the engines out why not freshen up. We are going to Dyno one of the engines before the tear down go get a base line. Then after the rebuild we will Dyno both engines and see what happens.
On the rebuild we will be doing a full Blue Printing of Engines, along with some fine tuning of the OEM parts. It will be interesting to see if there will be any gains over Stock or just a waste of time and MONEY. Should see some gains with a full custom rebuild over OEM build.
Keeping my fingers crossed!!

FYI.... Friend of mine has same engines same boat and staggerd with over 500 plus hours. He has been told by his engine builder for his other boats which are in excess of 1000 hp that the 525's will see 1000 hours with regular oil changes. ???

i don't doubt that but last year I had a bent valve stem on one of the cylinders. If I did not have a very good friend that is an engine builder with a full machine shop I might not be so eager to rebuild at this time. Too me this is just some preventive maintenance to make sure I can have a full boating season next year.

I have about 320 on my 500EFI motors, seem to be doing very well. I did do the valve train at 280 hours.
Is it recommended to do the 525's at that time also? I thought they had even bigger cam's then the 500 motors. Sound that way at least.
