Default Dash Makeover question

Thinking of replacing my weathered dash panel this winter. The thought of it scares me though. Disconnecting all the gauges and switches and all. ugh. Anyone have any tips? Keeping all my gauges as they work fine, but just a new panel. I thought i read somewhere that there is a plug inside the gunwales for the dash wiring? Is that true? 1990 38 Fever.

I replaced the entire dash on my 35 lightning and there are two plugs for the factory guages , you just have to remove the throttles ,indicators and steering wheel and it should come right out .

Nice. Thats what i am hoping for. Would like to update my dash from the white panel/white gauges to red panel/white gauges and possibly throttles.
