Dead Battery
Ok guys what do you do to get your hatch open when your battery is shot? I have the jumper cable plug but the battery must have a short it wont even let me oven the hatch lift. I tried to take the pins out on the back of the hatch but it just binds up on the lift when you try to pick it up. What now?
On my 35 you can lift the hatch up about 8" than you can pull the pin on the top of the ram The pin has a small cable atached to it after you pull the pin the hatch is free from the ram
Turn off your battery switch and put power to the hatch switch itself
My Pachanga had the pin you could get to from a access hole but the 27 Fountain is bolted and i cant lift mine at all it binds as soon as i lift it. There is a hole cut out of the backrest but you cant reach the ram it is off to one side.
That is what i will have to do power the switch. Good idea! What if there was ever a problem with the ram you would be totally screwed. When i get it open i am going to install a pull pin with a cable on it that i can reach.

I had a pin/rope on my 27 for the same situation, but the hatch pulled the hatch down tight enough that there was no way the pin would come, so I just did away with that setup and hoped to never need it. I was going to slot the upper bracket so that even with the ram fully retracted, the hatch could be lifted a hair to relieve any pressure on the pin to be pulled out effortlessly. Just never got around to it.

Your right the Pachanga would bind up the pin but with alot of effort it would come and you would smash your hand when it gave loose.
Solution: I pulled the the battery swich loose so i could get to the terminals and hooked the positive to the post and hooked the negative to the pullie on the motor. I have a boost setting on my charger so i was able to run it up that way. WOW alot of work for a bad battery! Guss i need to have two batteries in when i store it so this cant happen again.
I have plugged a "booster" battery into the 12 volt (cigarette lighter) receptacle and powered the lift up using the booster battery.

You don't have the jumper cable plug in the rear seat that you could have put power too? Just not sure on which side of the battery switch it is connected to
