Whipple on a 525 in a 29
#4
Didnt do a single 29, but did a 35 lightning. Went from 88 to 98, just props and the Whipples on 500 EFI's. Went to 540;s AFR heads with same whipples, went to 104. Standard length drives, no shorties. Figure on about 10-12 mph, others say more, but the folks I know without changing drive height, and just prop changes, saw about that. What changes alot, is the accerleration. We didnt have any drive problems. That was with the old xz drives, before the xr. Easy on plane, I mean baby it, and if it jumps out of the water when running try to get off the sticks and catch it, you will be ok. We put 100 hrs on the 540's and never broke a drive, and ran it pretty hard.....ask some of the Cats around here.
Have fun.....good luck.

I’m the guy that bought the 29 Fever from Grand Isalnd NY. It has a Tyler Crockett 575SCi with Dart PRO1 heads, Whipple intercooler/boost upgrade, roller cam…
The drive was junk. Some XR parts, some standard Bravo parts. It had been run right hand before (set up for left hand on this boat).
I have seen over 85 on GPS with a stock 30 pitch Bravo 1 but have been very easy on it due to the drive being the weak link. Lab 30 or 32 who knows, Maybe knocking on 90 with light load.
Rebuilding the drive now and had all the new gears (upper and lower) cryo’ed, polished and surface treated to get a 33% harder surface and 6 times lower friction ratio. Friction and scuffing with higher horsepower is the killer of the XR drive gears and drive.
Looking forward to testing this summer.
Upgrading to a blower is great but the drive is going to be the weak link.
