Default Difference in the hull 1997/1998 47 LGT

Hi, just wondering if someone have any experience with the different hulls in the 47 footers...????

Until 1996: no steps
1996 and 1997: Small steps
1998-2006: Big steps
2006 onwards a bit smaller staps located longer towards the stern (and higher hullsides at the rear)
(I believe this is correct...?)

Is there a difference in speed, handling, ride, vibrations etc. between the 1997 small step and the 1998 big step? What would be best for high speeds like 110 mph? If I have understood it right, the steps should be there the center of gravity is. If you have 3xbig power and No6s, will it be better to have smaller steps than higher like the 1998? I have driven a 47 with 3x900 and the 1998 hull. I think the steps should have been longer back as it was porpoising a bit before it reached really high speed.

All inputs apprechiated!! Thank you.
