Cool Just bought a Fountain.

I've been reading on this board for 2 months and i really like the help and advice everyone shares. That is why I'm happy to say i just bought my first Fountain. It's only a 1988 8.8, but I already love it! I just dropped it off to have a new stereo system and extreme marine swim platform installed. I can't wait to break it out for Memorial Day on Lake Lanier, I feel like I'm 12 again. I look forward to talking to all of you and hope to see you at some of the Poker Runs or other events.

Congratulations and welcome to the board! You're going to love that boat. I'm griping about my top end a bit lately, but I wouldn't trade my 29 for anything but a bigger Fountain.

Glad to see another 8.8 on the board. I have owned mine for 4 years. You have chosen wisely. I've done lots of work to mine and currently run 81 on gps but it takes alot to make these old ones go fast. The biggest problem is X dim which I have not adressed yet. I've been close a couple of times to buying an old flat deck Cig but every time I get to the edge and ask why and keep the old girl. If you have any questions or just want to compare notes get a hold of me I'll be happy to help. When it gets rough you will eat the new ones up.

My new Fountain 8.8 has the stock 454's-330H.P. As of now I don't plan to do much except new arrestors and maybe exhaust. I bought it at what I think is a good price(research) and don't want to go too heavy into this one. I would like to trade up in the next year or two. Maybe to a 10 meter or a newer model. I certainly don't mind a few hundred to make her faster if any ideas are out there. Please let me know! I already had the cockpit interior completely redone(white), now I'm looking for graphics and new color ideas. The old Red, Grey, and Black w/checkerboards have got to go. I plan to replace the windscreen with a nice aluminum piece the same size, then have it painted to match the new colors. I also plan to have the grabrails(bow and sundeck) along with the Extreme Marine swim platform all powdercoated to match. I'm only a bartender here in Atl. so this could be a long transformation but I will post progress pictures. Thank you all for the warm welcome and I look forward to talking to all of you.

Cdaddygreg,
Welcome to the board. It’s good to have another "loyal" Fountain owner here. There has been soon unhappiness here with the Fountain factory as of late. Hopefully that will get cleared up. They use to have the best customer service in the industry.
Fountain builds one of the strongest and best boats out there and you will love it. The only reason to sell a Fountain is to buy a larger one. Post some pictures when you get a chance.
