Default 29 Fever Sea Strainer Installation

I have a 98 Fountain 29' Fever with twin 454 MAG MPIs and I am looking to install sea strainers to it. Currently I boat where there is a sand bottom and I know a sea strainer will not completely solve my problem, but it will help out. I have been doing some research on different brands of sea strainers that are out on the market such as KPM, Hardin and a few others. I was wondering if anybody had any input on a strainer they use and how hard they are to install. I am pretty sure the sea strainer for the port motor is going to be the toughest to get to.

Great question, I am looking at doing the exact same thing. I have twins as well and I was wondering where to mount it and how to plumb it.

Fountain used Gaffrig by Livorsi Marine sea strainers in mine. You could contact Livorsi, they have been great to me getting replacement parts for my Fountain. I found that Livorsi made several parts of my boat for Fountain.

Pitts1313: Anyway you can post a few pictures of your Sea Strainers that you have on your boat. I would just like to get an idea where they are located because I feel that they should be accessable so that you are able to dump them. Also do you know what model strainer you have installed and what type of valves you have after the strainers?

If you pm me your email address I will send you some pics. I have not figured out how to post pics on here. Direct me to pic posting directions and I will post here. Mine are mounted directly behind the seat on the firewall for lack of a better term. There are single lever brass ball valves like you find at a hardware store to turn water off or on. The valves can be flipped to close and a quick connect garden hose can be attached to the strainer connection for flushing the motors instead of the earmuffs on the outdrive.

Got them, didn't even think to put them there good idea. I was going to mount them on the stringers but i hate the idea of putting a hole in them, that location looks much better.

thanks,

dash looks good, did you polish your stock shifters? I thought about that but mine were brass.

You know, I strip the throttles down to the brass and thought about clear coating them and just decided to send them off for chrome. I have the factory order sheet, the strainers are installed in the factory location from fountain. If you're trying to go by their location. I can send you more pics if you need.
