Thanks and yes.

Dumb question. If I'm using the strap what's the propose of the chain. A backup ? Should to be really tight?

The front winch is not really designed to hold the boat on the trailer. My Safety "Strap" runs forward in the same direction as the winch.

From west marine web site,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, not the best reference but one.

Trailer winches are not tie downs. To prevent mishaps, use dedicated bow and stern tie downs to secure your boat on the trailer.

Saftey back-up in case the winch strap were to break. No need to be tight, just not a lot of excess. Should also have tie downs on both sides of the transom.

I run two saftey chains on the front of mine, one to control movement back, the other set to control movement foreward.

OK another dumb question. How do you trie the transom down? Aren't the trim tabs in the way?

As mentioned before, they best place to purchase the drains is from Fountain. I bought 6 or 8, they were cheap, that way when they broke, and the do break often, easy to replace. If the part is accessible grab it with a pair of needle nose pliers and just pull it out. If it is broken off smooth with the hull just push in the stub and it will fall to the bottom of the rope locker and don't worry about it. Then put the new one in with a little silicone. Easy to do.

Sort of, I use heavy straps, the kind that they use to tie a car down with.

they will hit on the tabs a little.

You can buy standard boat tie down straps, from West Marine or any boat dealer. Just go from the tie down eyes on the transom to the tie downs on the trailer, they will go right around the K-planes and just pull them tight.

X2. Just find the best route from the eyes to your trailer tie downs, easy as that.
