Default Fountain stripes

97 model year. Is is possible to sand them down with out having to get the whole boat painted white? I want it to look good and not look half a$$ed. Or in certain light will you always be able to see they were there? Thanks, Tom

I had an '84 10 meter with the "Palm Beach" graphics. I used 240 then 360 with a board sander. 600 was dry 1500 was wet then used an orbital buffer with a wool pad.

The results were pretty good but in the shade, I could still see the outline of the stripes. Alot of work but looked better in my opinion. Good luck

Pretty sure you would always be able to see where they were in some light or angle, having some work done on mine now & in a section they have sanded off the stripes on mine but you can definitely see where they were, the gel just gets some fade to it as where paint holds up a little better.....

I would say absolutely yes you can. I have removed several paint jobs over the years to make changes and went to plain white gel before doing the new. It will not be without some effort but it can be done. Lots of time, done with care the old will never show.

Just did it on my 32. You can see the original stripes but they are fading in the sun. Anything looks better than the 99 graphics that were on the boat.

Most opinions I received are it's as much work as a new paint job,

I have just enough talent to sand....wanting to purchase a new crib this year so paying for a paint job is not in my budget this year....but I can't stand teal...

I may just have the stripes reshot with colors I like...
