We took it for a quick spin today. Had a few minor issues to work out but got them handled. We only took it up to about 80 or so and I wasn't happy with the lack of water pressure. The water and oil temp were already coming up a little higher than I would like to see at that rpm. So, we made a few changes and are headed back to the water in the am. We were going to go back this evening but a horrendous thunder storm came through.Glad we didn't go since there was abour 3/4" hail. Glad I'm driving a rental.:lolhit:
I'm confident that we will get it dialed in tomorrow. We have enough smart people working on it. Between myself, Reggie Sr, Reggie Jr., Wyatt, and all the guys at the shop, I have no doubt that the boat is in good hands. On a good note, I did get the pleasure of going to dinner with Reggie Sr. and Wyatt. Reggie is not what I expected. He's just as nice and down to earth as anyone. What a super nice guy. You name it and he has been there and done that. Eddie |

What kind of water pressure did you have?
On mine Stock XR w/dual water PU 25# w/IMCO -1 lower 30# w/SCX-4 and Hardin SS raw water pump 8# One engine struggled to get any pressure. I changed PU height, notch length and even tried getting water from the drives instead(that wasn't even close to working). I put the plastic pump back on and got 10# on that engine. Hardin just called and said that there was a machining flaw behind the wear plate. They're sending another one out to try. I hope it makes 10# or better. 8# took some getting used to but engine temp stays at 170 and oil temp 160. Sure, it sounds like low temp but it's been that way since day one and no oil related failures. |
According to FPM FB page... 117MPH and tweaking. I'm sure someone's happy.
|
Just seen the update on fb, 122mph. Been following for a while, congrats.

a quote from Facebook "OMG. .... Where does the speed end....we don't know
It's a wrap. Officially 122" Nice. Very Nice! |
Man news travels fast. We just picked it up and it did run 122. The boat was perfectly stable and handled excellently. Of course, the man himself was at the wheel and wasnt afraid to bury the sticks. He held it for over 20 seconds at WFO on the last run. We had 4 big guys in the boat, so it definitely has a little more in it. All in all I'm pleased with the way the engines performed. I'm sure that Eric is too.
I just want to say a big thank you to all the guys at Fountain for all of their help and hard work. They were a pleasure to work with. Would love to do it again. Eddie |
