TRL , are you having reversion problems at idle rpm or do you think you have a cracked header ? if its a header I hope you are not going to put tube headers back on again .

Yeah......thats probably not gonna happen.

We do 90% of our boating @ 60-70MPH....but If I want to lay it down...then I want the R's available. We have been assured that 5700-5800 is well within the range as long as we dont hold it there for eons. I know the risks of Hydraulic cam setups above 5900, so that is being taken into consideration...we boat on a calm fresh water lake...Keep you fingers crossed.

If not CMI's....then what type of headers would you suggest?

We will know more once CMI pressure tests headers....not for sure yet what the deal is. I have also had a few engine builders say the head possibly lifted and gasket failed...thus causing a lean condition...and smoking the #4 piston. However, engines both had break in and multiple full dyno pulls with no head lifting issues. Tyler did NOT use our headers during dyno testing...as they were in the Boat...which was at RF. He used his "dyno" set...which leads everyone to believe its a cracked header.

Thoughts?

that freaken sucks ! I have the stainless marine gen 3 with 4.5 inch pipes and running GGB muffs and 1060 to 1100 hp still pull past 6100 easily , tube headers are fragile and need allot of support for all the shaking going on , Stainless marine now makes 525 manifolds if you still have the 525 heads . hope things get better for you . you should talk to Eddie young for his thaughts , it probably should of had the finale tune in the boat .

Tyler does a Dyno tune..then brings laptop and does a lake tune @ 100 RPM intervals to keep AFR and MAP in check throughout the entire RPM range. I believe he typically loads a "safe" tune on the dyno..then tweaks it during final lake testing. FYI....for now we do have the stock 525 heads...but may go to a DART heads that flow a little more in the future.

Man...If I went with Stainless Marine (or any other manifold/header)...then I would have to probably reconfigure tail pipes...and we just spend 5k on new ones since we raised X-Dimension...and deleted the silent choice. This is getting very old.....

I ran across a thread where Eddie had good things to say about Hardin Marine headers....I see that they make a 525 replacement.

Not meaning to highjack thread, but what kind of #'s are you seeing from your boat with the new setup 575cat?
