From my experience, they are perfect. I have used -2 and presently -3. Never had a failure with a lower sc. Although, I 've had a failure with an upper not with the gears or bearings, but with the upper cone clutch shaft where i have sheared one right off..not damaging any of the gears or bearing, but i am running 750 ft lb of torque..800hp, but that is probably their limitations. if you're trying to run 1000 hp and 900 ft lbs plus, they will probably not hold it, but still will be the fastest bravo setup...other than a #6...

I dont disagree that they are fast..but after we shelled 3 of them with the old 850HP motors..it was time for a change.

On a -3, the upper if it is a bravo has to be cut and modified like i did my xr's before I ordered imco sc uppers..imco sc uppers are stepped up 1 inch on the cavitation plate therefore putting you right where your -2's would be, so prop diameter will be exactly the same as a
-2...probably 16 inch max. But, my 47 has -3's ...i am raising it 3 inches on the x dimension..therefore allowing me to space down to allow more prop dimension.

29 Scarab10...it looks to me like i should be asking you how your set up is holding out..if not mistaken you were the one that won the loto in your class..what is your x dimension and what are you running for props if you don't mind telling me? i am in the process of a major refit on my boat..now running 31 pitch 6 blade hering at about 2 inches below running surface to about 1 inch above running surface with sc uppers and lowers.. any input would be appreciated..
