I didn't put it on the vinyl. went from the top. You cant see it. Its on gel. Have to Install screen from top. very clean.

FYI, there is a product available at marine supply places that looks like a little screen tent. The bottom is weighted and it just drops on the deck right over your open hatch. Its big enough to allow the standard sized hatches to be opend up fully. Rolls up into a little ball and stores in a pouch.
