I fly in to Orlando or Jacksonville. I drove down from daytona. I think there is an airport in Melborne, but it costs about $400,00 more per ticket.

Blade38 08-16-2002 06:27 PM

Picked up the boat from lake X. They dialed it in at 81/82 mph with Bravo 30" labbed props. They handed me back 90lbs of bent metal that was installed in the drive line. Didn't run it yet. Boat was brought down to Miami so a Certified surveyer could look at the boat. Lake X guys said some of the parts were the worst they ever seen. Best part is that Jeff Harris from Fountain stepped up and paid for the repair(s) plus a XR prop shaft upgrade I had on my credit card. Thanks Jeff. It is appreciated greatly. I bought new labbed 30" props that they recommended. What a great bunch of guys. So we continue the legal stuff untill the rest of the boat gets addressed and then some.

Congrat's!! You were due for some good news!! That's Great the Jeff Harris Stepped up to the plate on behalf of Fountain!!

What was the 90lbs of bent metal that was on the Driveline?

Blade38 08-19-2002 08:10 PM

Everything on the drive line was bent or twisted. Bearings were out of round and loose from the gimbals to the propshaft

dockmech 08-20-2002 06:00 PM

Watch the movie and you'll see how that happened.

Blade38 09-18-2002 06:36 PM

Well we finished our first run, Jacksonville last weekend without blowing up or burning up. Merc racing did great sorting out the drives. Dont like the Bravo props. Great hole shots but no top end. My hydromotives are getting worked over. Have not got any of the other stuff adressed. MORE CRACKS in the glass though. Craaap.

BOATSAROCKIN: IT DON'T MATTER IF FULLTHROTTLE BOUGHT HIS BOAT FROM THE FREAKIN' EASTERBUNNY! THE FACTORY BUILT THE BOAT NOT THE DEALER. LEGITIMATE COMPLAINT!

Did I miss something? Full- Did you find out that your boat was a former stunt boat? Was it one of the boat featured in "All about the benjamins"? What is the story? Midnight:cool:

candyman35 09-23-2002 08:38 PM

MIdnight,
You got it. His boat is famous. I bet he would have loved to seen the movie before buying it.:(

So the saga continues? Any new pic's? What eles is there left to take care of? Charlie

MIdnightRider 09-23-2002 10:51 PM

Dan- Thats ironic because I just saw that movie last weekend. My friends all said You Have To See That Movie, theres lot of boats, and fountains are everywhere! So I rented it just based on the fact that it had boats in it. Not bad, but it was awful nice of them not to diclose to Full what its prior history was, it being a movie star and all (the boat)! Midnight

Blade38 09-24-2002 07:17 AM

Merc Racing at Lake X sorted out the driveline from the engine to the props. A couple of the major issues are the windshield, Last visit to Fountain they damaged the windshield, Then for some reason attempted to remove it from the boat. They then damaged the frame and beat the crap out of the deck when they dragged it across the paint. Then they hid the damage by filling the trenches they made with some sort of putty that didnt set up. Its all coming loose. That's just the wind shield. The monkeys then got back in the boat with a pen in there pocket. You guessed it. From the front to the back. Pen marks everywhere. Okay Okay one more, Water does not drain from the cockpit to the engine compartment. It just accumulates under the cabin until it floods everything. There are an additional 23 items just like the couple I gave you. So we are still going to court. At least I can run the boat. 1st time I got to complete a run was in jacksonville. Its been such a drag owning this thing.:(

that is a shame that you are having that many problem, i have had nothing but pleasure from mine since ordering it new in 98, and my previous boat a 90 42 gave me no problem either. the only stress cracks that i have i one small 1" on the left frt cockpit floor area my 90 had the same stress crack and that is the only one i have. i could not be happier. i average 50-70 hours per season and boat loto and that lake is not easy on a boat.
good luck

Fullthrottle, I finally saw the movie the other day, it was OK and it did look like they ran the piss out the boat. Some really hard turns and such:eek: Not to mention beaching it. Did they get the interior cleaned up? Buy the movie it look's like the 42's have tons of room down below!!

I hope you get everything straighten out!! It was cool to see boat's like we like in movie's!! And I would really like to see more of them!!

That great that your experience has been good. The Fountains do perform well. My opinion is this 42 was a product of decit and fraud. The boat has questionable history. This all comes out in the court process. Everything that they represented the boat the boat to be was false. They put my family and me in dangerous position by the defect part installations, and on and on. I will keep this thread up to date. Even the movie thing. We originally thought that this boat was used in the movie, well guess what, another fairy tail.

Oh yea, speaking of fairies, BOATSAROCKEN, if your boat was rockin you would mellow out a bit. Your attitude is typical of you Fountain Factory minions and the attitudes I been getting from the dealer about this problem. This Fountain 42 issue will soon be cleared up. The problem Will go back to the Dealer and Fountain. Guys like you are part of the problem with the boating industry. Thats why they say what goes around comes around. And im doing everything I can do to accellerate it. So pull your head out of Reggies arse. You should use your energy to be part of a solution instead of all the neg vibes you place on this board. I had so much help from the OSO users.

Later. Ive had so many bad experiences with this thing its been unreal. All I can say is that I'm in a great position Legal to deal with everyone involved. :)

the cabin shots are of a sport cruiser cabin not of a 42 and if you look at the engine hatches on the boat beached i think it is for a 35 or 38 perhaps. the engine hatches on a 42 or much longer to accomadate triples and staggers actually i think from what i remember the only shot of a 42 was at the very beginning of the boat chase when they took off from the dock. but its been awhile since i have seen that movie. i may be wrong.

Later, Cool! I'll have to watch it again more closely!!

What marina did they use??

I saw (a stripped something) that was the boat that looked like it was shot in the marina?

Who's Race Trailer and truck was that? Or did they just put sticker's on it for the movie?

Mike is probably one of the strongest pro Fountain voices on the board.

How are you involved with this brand new 42 on the board???? You have posted about it but we don't know who you are. Are you the selling dealer or a representative of Fountain? I'm sure you have a wealth of knowledge to share with us. You could be an asset to the board. Tell your story in full with details. There are always two sides to every story. We would all like to know how you are involved and what your story is. Facts!!! Not posts that are way off base.

PLUSH!

MIdnightRider 10-12-2002 02:09 PM

That white sure makes those cabins look bigger than they really are. My old school FTN has grey and black in the cabin and it does not due anything for your perception of size. It's the mentality we use when building smaller new homes, use white interior trim. It draws less attention to the corners and makes a room appear larger and more roomy. Now how the hell am I going to make my cabin white without spending 50k? Midnight:cool:

Blade38 10-12-2002 06:58 PM

My pro photog friend took that pic. The lighting and the angle of the camera adds to the effect and makes the cabin look bigger.

Court Date

in response to a thread about a court date. It does take awhile to get to the date. Ref "Fountain comes through..read this ..long" I'm no lawyer but I understand that the defendant and the plantiff have the "right to discovery" This is a process where you can ask specific questions to either side. They have up to 30days to answer. They rejected a settlement offer abot 15days ago buy just not answering back. So now we go to a arbitrator. If this doesnt get resoveled to my satifaction Then we go to trial. As I mentioned, its the fraud charge thats taken the time to prove. Were so damn ready for court its not funny. It would have been easier for them to fix the boat and it might come to that. But the fraud is what pissed me off. I trusted these people, Reggie and my dealer and they put my family and I in danger by leaving the bent parts on the boat. As mentioned, they fixed the drives but the situation with the friction fire etc. still gets me going. If the court thing plays out great but if not I will go after the sales guys civily. Especial the Fountain sales manager. The only thing thats fixrd is the Drives and thats because Merc Racing did it.

Aqua-Holic 12-23-2002 01:45 PM

A very interesting thread, to say the least. My sympathy to you and your family. On a side note......what is the name of the movie that everyone keeps talking about?

Fullthrottle 42,

This pains me to read this but it happens. I manufacture a small cap to keep you hydraulic fluid in the reservoir on your drive and tab trim pumps. Please e-mail me I'll send you the six that you need for free!

Hope this will help as a fellow boater.
