Is FOUNTAIN in trouble agin?

Anybody heard anything about Fountain in trouble (going bankrupt) again?

thirdchildhood 10-09-2011 09:31 AM

There are at least a half dozen threads running right now about this. Nobody knows right now what will happen and it won't help to speculate. We have to wait and see and hope for the best...

nitrousnolan 10-09-2011 09:34 AM

Just a matter of time before Reggie gets it back in some way shape or form, he's the only guy that will ever make it what it was or better.

Maybe that's why he doesn't see a reason to invest in new tooling.

Hope DONZI somehow finds a way,,,,,,,

PARADISE ISLAND 10-09-2011 12:23 PM

:confused:They have more than Fountain! There is Donzi&Proline also in involved depends on the bank or banker involved??Real Estate is not doing so well either I'd be surprized if it even sells who wants it!?

Captain YARRR 10-09-2011 12:31 PM

For the right price someone will.

thirdchildhood 10-09-2011 12:45 PM

"Baja by Fountain" was short lived.

dewayne6243 10-09-2011 02:04 PM

Fountain will live. As far as Donzi & Proline let them go. Nobody will want them.

A lot of people aren't going to like that statement.

Sounds like a good idea but kind of dumb. It's like Ferrari making a chevy. Doesn't really do anything for your brand image

bgck13 10-13-2011 10:08 AM

It still amazes me people pay for extra for 2-3 unusable feet thanks to the Fountain's signature nose. 42ft is really a 39 if even.

It still amazes me why people worry about things that other people don't.

Ok, this is my understanding.

Liberty owns the Baja brand (not sure if they are producing any) and the factory (formerly Fountain) in Washington, NC and employs the personal to actually manufacture boats and do service work on them.

AMH is the holding company that bought the Donzi, Fountain and Pro-Line brands (and molds) but does not actually produce the boats. I guess they figured they would buy these brands on the cheap and make a return on their investment as the economy improves. Sometime ago AMH reached an agreement where-by Liberty would mange the Donzi, Fountain and Pro-Line brands (market and produce them) at Liberty's facility in Wash, NC, for a fee no doubt.

It appears that Liberty has now pulled out of that arrangement - so production on new AHM brand boats has stopped, but the service work continues. One can only wonder why Liberty pulled out of the arrangement. As for Baja, I have no idea what Liberty plans for it.

I hope the two sides work it out.

So if I read this right AMH has no place or personal to manufacture the boats.

Not good.

I see your point, but actually, you are fully wrong! When you do swells at 80 mph, you use the full length for all its worth, and the nose give you extra lift in the water and in the air (like NO other boat!). The last section of the boat is great for flotation and give a practical and modern look, and the hull has a big notch. It goes faster becuse it is shorter (has the notch) but still use the full length of the hull in heavy seas. In addition, you have flaps. So your statement is somewhat incorrect. Sorry :-D

47 lightning 10-13-2011 05:15 PM

as for the integraded platform every boat today has one some as big as 3 or four feet like nortech and outerlimits so youre talking about the little beak in the front that distinguishes fountain from the rest . if you look at hustler 38 or cigarette 42 they slop up the same way to gain length instead of curve up like fountain.

For some reason you and I often take the same matter-o-factly view of things.
Your Fountain look'n any different than it did yesterday?
Neither is mine! Imagine that!!!

Bet it runs the same too :)

I'm done for the season. Just winterized mine and wiped it down. Last week might have been the last ride I ever take in it because I'm pulling the motors and putting the hull up for sale soon. It's time to start on the Donzi.

Well at least you know that your 19' Bayliner is 19'.......... I do need to ask why you would ever post something like that in a Fountain thread...... Just curious, and everyone is entitled to their opinion , But really.....really.....why?

LicenseToChill 10-13-2011 09:53 PM

Fountain Powerboats was doomed last December when Reggie walked out the door (....... IMHO)

KWright 10-14-2011 07:48 AM
