External steering outside or in?

If you have the room to install steering rams either inside or the outside...is there a reason why one is better than the other?

No room for a tie bar if mounted inside?
Better access on the outside?

Never seen it done on the inside. Mine is on the outside and it works great.

do it on the outside.

Formula mounts them on the inside. Doesn't seem like it would matter other then the design of the boat.

Well you learn something everyday. I never knew that.

I asked this question before, the response was that it depends if it will clear the tabs or not. Other then that it makes no difference :drink:

i would want it out. easier to get it and it wouldnt make getting inside any harder than it already is.

Forgot about that location for a tie bar. It's probably the best spot for strength too. It may have an effect on planing there but we don't have drag boats. I've also seen a boat with one on top and the back before now that I THINK! Doah!

Downtown42 11-29-2011 04:13 PM

My 35 side by side was inside, the 42 stagg was outside.

pullmytrigger 11-29-2011 04:14 PM

I think inside looks cooler!

I have V's on boxes and they are mounted on the inside.

I talked to Latham today. They reccomend putting them on the inside. Less parts and a cleaner look. The only thing you gain on the outside is you can use a 1 inch longer stroke ram if you have the room.
