Towing a 27 or 29????

What do you use to tow your 27 or 29? I have a F250 diesel 4x4 that will of course pull either boat just fine, but I have been considering a new F-150 and wondering if anyone tows with that?

Thanks!

I have a 29 fever and I use a 2001 f350 7.3 liter with the Edge and mildly aggresive injectors with aftermarket brake calibers and slotted rotors. In my opnion I would not use a f150. After awhile that gas engine and transmission is really going to feel it. Not to mention stopping with a light duty truck. I just trailered my boat to florida for a week and than back 2300 miles round trip and the 350 pulls great and still got 14+ miles to the gallon.

I think a new F150 will tow one. Its the stopping or pulling it out at the ramp which would concern me.

I tow my 29 with a Chevy 2500HD Diesel 4x4. Ford350's right, if you never planned on towing your boat very far than maybe but 1/2 ton's really weren't made to tow that kind of weight. 4 wheel drive is also really nice for those slippery ramps.

I think solder44 has a new Eco 150 and a twin 29, no problem.
The Eco has a higher tow rating then the V8!

PistonHead, I read your other post about moving from south Texas to northern Ohio. You might want to just keep the 4X4 for more reasons than boating. Sun to Snow!!! Good luck

I could plug the Tundra, but that will upset more than a few. :party-smiley-004:

That's not really fair. Tundra specs are more comparable to 3/4 ton trucks from the "Domestic" brands.

i tow mine w ith a 1/2 ton dodge 4+4.no problems

I dont have a 29 but I have a Cummins 3/4 ton, and I can tell you that once you have a diesel and that flat torque curve I will NEVER have a whiny gas p/u again. Running over hills without the tranny even having to drop a gear is awesome. It really irritates me when a gasser has to drop two gears just to get over a grade when towing
