Coasts for quite a while when chopping throttle. As in, "Oh chit, we gonna have enough room to slow before the no wake zone?". lol Easy adjustment now that I know.

3rd test
Made notches for PU's deeper and ran it. PSI too low. Lowered PU's to 1" below running surface. The notches go above them now. OK, but not great PSI?????? I can tell this pushed the nose down but not as bad as the 16* rake props.

5400 104 20% I was trimmed higher, where trimming higher low on fuel was no MPH gain.

What I've noticed with the PU's sucked up:
Star engine heats up at WOT. It has 1 90* inlet fitting where port doesn't. Needs to go but still want more pressure.
Easy to plane
The boat took zero trim to achieve top speed
Drove great
Threw some roost

With the PU's deep:
Harder to plane
Took more trim to get top speed. 2=0, 4.5 to get speed
No roost
Bow steer, and definitely worse with 18* vs 20*

My water pressures are still low.
I have the Teague adjustables. 2 for inner coolers and 2 for engines. 4 total. Yes, I have a "rake" hanging off the back of the boat, but redundancy is good.

For the IC. I used to have Teague straights (with a 90* to enter the boat), that had an angle cut at the opening creating 1/4" difference from front to rear that created more innercooler pressure than I have now.
Before: 90* PU, -12 to strainer, -12 to IC, one -12 dump. This created 1-3PSI measured at the rear of IC
Now: Adjustable PU, -12 to strainer, -12 to IC, two -10 dumps. This created 1-3PSI measured at inlet of IC

For engines
Before, the water came from the drive to the pump and created 30PSI.
Now, the water comes from the adjustable PU's, through 1" NPT full flow ball valve to strainer (1"NPT's) to pumps(Hardin SS) and with the PU's hanging waaaaay down I get 13PSI on the port engine and 2-3 on the star engine. The star engine has a 90* fitting feeding the strainer that the port doesn't.
With the PU's sucked up the port engine sees 5PSI and the star 0-1PSI, and it gets warm, think. lol

Do you think the IC pressures are fine? Engines still run.
I can get the 90* out of the loop with a differently configured strainer so I will but is 5PSI enough. Again, engines still run.
Anybody ever have a water pressure problem with the Hardin SS pumps?

The teague adjustable PU's hang down 1" from running surface and I've cut 1/2"+ deep notches (now they are higher than the PU's) 15" long in the hull feeding them. How deep can I grind? Do I need to go longer? Anybody have pics of this type of setup on a Fountain? I've seen deeper notches on other boats but how thick is the hull 15" forward of the "notch"?

Here's a ton of questions and data. I hope I can get some more ideas and this helps others.

I am creating a 18+ lead in to a 1.5 single pickup so the notch a 1.5 deep the glass is thick and went through it into the foam I have to get the glass work finished yet , and from the single pickup to a large 22 inch by 8 inch strainer the fountain boys built as per their recommendation , and then feeding both engines and intercoolers .I hope to god this works , believe Erick has the same unit in his boat .

I think you have gone through a lot for 1.5 mph and a rooster tail. Can't you just try a set of bravo style props? I know I am beating a dead horse :lolhit: 20% slip ??
