I want to find one that has a remote pickup, so I can mount the pumps in front of the motors.

You wont find one unless you find a pump thats got a rubber vein impeller and can draw a vaccum to suck the water up. And it wont be callsified as a "bilge" pump. All bilge pumps i know of are centrifical design and must be submerged in liquid to actually pump...they dont pull the liquid into themselfs...they just move it out.

If you wanted to find a diaphram pump then that might be able to have a remote pickup...but i dont know of any in 12v that can discharge at the rate these bilge pumps do. :(

just replaced 2 on a 29 fountain today for a customer, pull off the inboard exhaust elbows and pipes hang down and remove the 2 back screws, squeeze down in front and remove 2 front screws, cut wires and cut hose that you wont reuse.install new pumps, your choice, and new hoses and attach the new hoses to the thru hulls and thats about it,leave old hoses there

ok yeah I thought about that thanks. A long ace screw driver might do the trick as well if you could find something like that.
