Bilge pump fritz
 

Im pretty sure one my bilge pumps fried. Its white and about a foot by 4-5in wide about, couldnt catch the brand its dirty. Either way These things are under the engine and to be frank im not ripping out an engine for this pump, i might be able to get at this but I dont know. Any ideas on what kind of pump, tricks or techniques.

tie a rope to your ankles and have a guy there to pull ya out.... J/k one pump should work for pumping out residual water from bilge, but it might be a good idea to replace. no real good way to replace, other than squeazing down there. ( or pay someone to do it )

lol thats what i figured. I was thinking I could always leaves the old one down there and put the new one closer to the front.

Four stainless screws tied down the "basket" (outside of pump) The wiring is what takes the longest to make sure it's done right. Plus, the colors were different from old to new so I had to research that. I did mine while the motors were out. Couldn't imagine squeezing under there to do that. It would be doable, but by somebody MUCH smaller than me! :cartman:

yup thats it sir. Yeah Im just getting the boat out, and thats one of my last priorities as the other works well. So we will see I my have to take the hatch ram off so I can lay down and reach under. but the farthest screws back, umm I dont think so. So I think I will just put another one closer and it will still work.

One of mine only works when I turn the switch on, I figure unless I can fine a mechanically incline 6 year old it will have to do until I pull the motors this winter.

Not doing it this summer, didn't use the boat last summer and I am not doing that again!

lol. yeah I know of a 5 year old have to see if I can get him to take 4 screws out and then put them back in.

They're Lovetts, and I believe the company is out of business. Some how my oversized self broke BOTH outlets off my pumps. I just took them out last weekend to repair them... I don't wish that on ANYONE.

soldier 4402. I know this problem well. Lovetts were junk. Got to a point in my 32 where one was dead the other intermittent and unreliable. Which really sucks with the low stern. Most pumps now require a 3 way instead of 2 way switch now. I bought a Johnson Pump Ultima Bilge 1250. You can squeeze in and reach down there. Pull the Lovett. Connect the new pump to your existing hose, 48 or 5200 the johnson pump down and you can wire it directly to the battery as it has an auto switch. (didn't believe the water sensing switch would work so I tested it in the laundry tub before installation) I had this setup for a couple seasons until I rebuilt the motors and then put in rule 1500's

correction. After attempts to hook up the existing hose and a lot of swearing i ran a new hose. Connect the hose to the pump before you adhese it down.
