I am not sure how you figure this but to run the same speed as the trip you would need 750HP engines and bigger drives. By the time you figure all considerations in there will not be much difference. Do you think a SC engine is cheap on fuel? Also you would have to burn premium fuel where the HP 500’s can run on reg. All combinations have advantages and disadvantages

+1...you are so right my grasshopper.

My point is I would buy a smaller boat with twins (38 footer) rather than take on a 42-47 foot boat with triple big blocks (let alone one that is 16 years old). I cant imagine the resale market is very good for anything with a triples and I wouldnt want to deal with the expense of maintaining and feeding 3 big blocks. Im not debating that a pair of supercharged big blocks would need as much fuel as triples to go the same speed.

Ragged Edge:

I have owned a 32 fountain without rotted stringers. Do some research on this era fountain-they had issues with stringer rot from non treated materials being used. That's the main reason you would want a good surveyor to look at the boat.

And you get a fricking life a##wipe if I didn't have the means to buy and run the boat I wouldn't be posting about it.
