Default How many are running 6Bl Herings

I just got my 6 Bl ( bravo style) in the mail. How many have this on their fountain? Just wondering what hulls they work on, don't have time to test mine yet.

I think all the late model (08-09) 35 Lightnings with 525's came with 6 blade Herrings from the factory-mine did. The 35's and 38's with 600's came with 5 blade maximus props. I wonder if it was to protect the XR drives. I hear the 6 blade props are tough on drives. I too am testing 6 blade herrings on my 35 and they seem slower and more unstable than the maximus props.

Could you possibly share your #s. Also do you still loose mph w the heat on havi. ? I run blower motors w efi there too but have not been out in august w this boat yet. Also my motors are side by side in the very back of the bilge. I'm hoping the 6 blade will make my weight distribution seem more like a staggered.

A customers '01 35 has the six blades and it's definitely less stable on the top end. I think the drives need to be higher to make them work cause there's too much stern lift as it is. I used B1's to dial the boat in and they worked well but the customer likes the Herring's better because it gets out of the hole quicker. It's running SCX uppers, Sc lowers, 1.25 ratio.

I would imagine that would be really hard on the drives

I was told surfacing XRs creates a vibration and cupping and vibration is what kills them (under 700 hp). I am looking to minimize vibrations and the Hering has no cupping on the tips of the blades.

I am also looking to get my slip # up a bit if poss. 11% is scary w the maximus. Kinda feels too locked up. like no forgiveness at all for the gears.
