In rough water this weekend on Lake Ontario I could not keep the bow down with the tabs and keep speed up. As the boat came out of the water it did not fly as level as i would like it to. Has anybody added some bow wt or a ballast system, I know that the 28 pantera has 6 lead plates up front and ocean race boats add wt at times. My fountain has two empty compartments up front under the mattress. I could add a few lbs there to offset the stern?

use a stern lifting props . problem solved

Thanks Rob for the prop tip. My 1st goal is to keep the rubrail above the water line. I re-enforced my A frame today with 2x4x12 bolted to the 2x6 legs. The hoist is alot more stable.

Glad to see my poker running friend is safer now! Looks good, is it spring yet?

When you have the motors out look real close around you exhaust holes, make sure they don't look like this,,,,,,,,,

I plan to reseal the exhaust holes, I have 34" emi dry risers with trim rings. I will be selling these motors w/o the oil coolers and drive cuplers emi exhaust in the swap shop.

Looking better by the day Glen! You got a lot going on, i will give you advise on one thing I missed when rigging mine. In your pics you have sea strainers . I see a hose going direct from the pickups to the strainers with no shut off at the strainer. I would recommend installing a pair. This will illiminate having a wet bilge from cleaning the strainers while on the water. Its not a tone of water that comes out once you pop the cap, just enough to be nuisance.

Sold motors

I relocated the batteries forward. A lot easier that expected. I removed the other bravo transom. I cleaned the bilge, painted the cut outs for the drives and exhaust. I also removed the sand bags from up front.

Glad to see you upgraded the steering! Looks great.

Btw if you decide you don't like the donkey dongs, "tip-sea" runs dry tails on his 36 outlaw and never gets bothered. They really aren't any louder than CMI's at idle. Moving they are sick :D

BLUEMAGIC 05-08-2013 10:42 AM

You may want to consider Drew Marine Shot Gun mufflers. Knowing how low the 32's sit reversion becomes a problem depending on how radical your cam is. My Big Tube Stellings are dry to the 5inch tip. It was loud enough to make my ears ring after 5 minuits of running. The shot gun mufflers do great against reversion while idling around the dock.

glen george 05-08-2013 12:33 PM

Moving the batterys forward (110 lbs), losing the silent choice and getting lighter engines( no EFI , water pumps ect ) I hope to raise up the rear boat. My emi are also dry to from the tip. I like to have both options with the downturns or just the flappers. I will water test it this week and then put the new interior in.

how does it handle at 85?

BLUEMAGIC 05-10-2013 03:07 PM

Looking good Glen! I honked at you as you were about to get on the highway. I was doing some test and tuning on the new Hauler. Looks sharp

glen george 05-10-2013 03:07 PM

I saw you, BLUEMAGIC in the blue truck. My boat now has a very solid ride. Im impressed. I did not fully trim it out. I will wind it up when I feel more comfortable with it and post new pictures. I still need to finish installing the engine lid, pass seat and speakers . Rub rail was 4" above the water.

Wildman_grafix 05-10-2013 07:20 PM

86 mph gps and gaining @ 5000 rpm. Im running stock 32 bravo ones that were turned out. Today I removed the downturn mufflers and turned my prop's IN. I hope to get out this week and really trim it out.

Great News Glen !

Looks great too, use caution going for the big number- things change when you get that much hull out of the water.

Cool project, awesome job.

glen george 05-20-2013 06:36 AM

I have a set of tab stops comming. I re-checked the drive allignment and turned the props back inn. Im running 81p-92s in the holley 800 now, jet testing will be next.

txtraveller2002 05-20-2013 12:33 PM

Did you run into issues with the downturns? I put a set on like yours, and the first day out, had a manifold spring a leak. I think it was jsut coincidence, but wated to see if you were having any issues too. If not< i'm going to keep running them, since they make a huge difference in the vibration issue. I got the manifolds on that motor changed out this weekend.

glen george 05-20-2013 12:39 PM

No issues with the downturns. I have a few inches clearence between the rubrail and the water. I decided to run w/o them next outing so I can hear my new motors.

txtraveller2002 05-20-2013 01:09 PM

Gotcha. Was just curious, I really don't see how they would have caused my reversion issue, just wanted to check with you to be sure.

intake manifold leaking would be a bad gasket not the turn down,,,the turn downs would do something totally different like hydro lock your engine...

is your boat a salt water boat?

No, not a saltwater boat. And it had a crack in the interior of the manifold, just over #3 cylinder. It did hydrolock, but I think I dodged a big bullet and didn't bend a rod or anything. I really can't see how the downturns would have caused it, was just curious if I'm doing something that might cause problems down the line.

KWright 05-22-2013 08:59 PM

I have been out 5 times with my repowered boat. I put 10 hours on the motors. Ran high 80s. I did noticed a very light blue/white smoke from the port motor at idle when hot ,since I installed them. I that it was a valve seal. July 4th I dropped a valve. OUCH. Off to the machine shop this Monday. (BOAT) Bring Out Another Thousand.

jmoore1225 07-08-2013 01:13 AM

Ahhhh.... That sucks, sorry to hear. Gotta pull 1 of mine for a head gasket, hopefully I caught it early enough.

TablerockToy 07-08-2013 10:21 PM

That sucks! was wondering how much louder the dry pipes were?

CJ

glen george 07-09-2013 07:46 AM

Motor is at the machine shop. All new ss valves will be installed. The dry pipes were not as loud as I thought they would be.

cp5899 07-10-2013 09:11 PM

That sucks about the valve dropping. How did the rest of the engine look since you have it apart?

glen george 07-10-2013 09:30 PM

I think all damage is in the #5 cylinder. I only removed the one head. The machine shop has not tore the rest down. I hope to get results this Friday. I'm pulling the other motor out this week also.

RICHARD CUNY 07-11-2013 06:07 PM

Glen did you drop a seat and than break a valve? I did it two times past two years what a mess.Starting to wonder about the gas we are using.
Rich

glen george 07-11-2013 07:26 PM

Mabey. Valve stem was still there. I pulled out the 2nd motor tonight. I will have it refreshed also with manley severe valves. Will post what the shop says.

glen george 07-27-2014 01:33 PM

I fixed everything right. http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...o58129-en.html
