you can get into a late 90s early 2000s for around 50-60k I wouldnt spend anymore than that on a 35 as there are plenty of them around.

Precisely, I can buy an 2008 mint for 70k..

Wouldn't even think of spending 60k on a 99 then..

But my problem is that my budget is 60-65k..

Why? I would rather have a blue motor before a 496 any day.
The only thing that has me torn is the price on 42's versus 35's, pretty sure i am just gonna spend the extra 10-15k on a 42 and be happy, hopefully.

I like the reliability and the low maintenance of the 496!

I sell boats for a living, and have sold alot of boats with 496's. Just my 2 cents, but there is a reason they have gone back to the 8.2 block. 496 are just as susceptible to failure.

No a 496 is a great engine,,the reason they went to the 8.2 block is because GM stopped making the 496 8.1...
