I'm planning on building a system in my boat in Feb/March and am curious where you are putting your amps to keep them cool and well ventilated so they don't shut off? Thanks in advance

I had mine bolted to the bulkhead facing the front v berth. I also mounted them 1/2" off the back using small diameter alum pipe as a spacer. They stayed plenty cool and never had any heat issues, there also out of site but still in open air. Downside is running enough cable gets expensive

IMO the only place you can mount them is in the cabin. Ive tried mounting them under the bench seat in the past but they get too hot and eventually shut down--same goes for the engine bay PLUS there is too much moisture in there. Spend the money on the extra cable and install them in the cabin.

mines under the back seat with no problems in two years. Although in the cabin would be best. I tried that but figured out my ground wire was to small and didnt feel like trying to find another so I moved the amp. If you go from the cabin I believe it was like 12-14' so I would go with a 0 gauge ground wire.

heat should not be a problem as a lot amps since in boxes in the back trunks of cars in roasting heat. As long as you have a big enough area, under the seat would be fine as long as you have a cleared area. Water problems would be my greatest worry but like I said after 2 years no problems. I have been buying the remand amps off of Ebay for like 60-80 bucks, and they work great, and if they break oh well.

I'm seriously thinking about doing them where the mirror was/is. I've done the amp in the engine compartment and that never worked very well. Also, I use the storage under my seat for buoys and anchor all the time so that's not an option. Hmmmm, which way to go.....
