I am about to replace the depth sounder. The current transducer is under the step going into the cabin. Before I just start taking things apart, does anyone have any words of wisdom of how the factory ran the wire there?

I have heard you can also just mount the transducer in the bilge. Pro's / Cons?

Any suggestions or help is much appreciated.
