Default Gas shock help needed

So on my new to me boat the gas shock that holds up the top of the cuddy doors was missing.....so I have nothing to go off of. Does anyone know what length or what a part number might be for the gas shock that holds up the top door to the cuddy doors..? For a 1997 Fountain 35' Lightning any help would be great!

if info fails, measure the collapsed and extended length between the mounts and a good guess of the weight of the hatch. Take that to the autoparts store. You should come up with something fairly easy. I just went thru the same thing with my engine hatch.

My 1998 was a 5" to 7" (give or take).

Had the same issue on my 32. I bought a new one off amazon, and it lasted all of 2 trips out. It worked great when it was still cold outside, but as soon as it started worming up, it quit holding the door up. What I ended up doing is cutting a length of rubber fuel line, then splitting it down one side. Now when I have the door open, I salide it on the ram between the black shock barrel and the door, and it holds it all day long. Make several identical ones, because if your glove box is as full of crap as mine is, you'll spend 5 minutes digging for one.
