Default Help!

i had the engine in neutral. gave it a little gas to get it to idle and it jump into forward without touching the gears. after this happened the emgine died. Pulled the boat out of the wate and the pro is not moving forward or reverse. the gear shifter is stuck as well. Any ideas of what might have happend, and please don't say it tore up the outdrive. Has this happened to anyone before? what might have caused this?

Thanks
James

I think it might be a shift cable or adjustment. Post this in the tech section if you didn't already. Does the shift lever work easily?

Don't shoot the mesenger but I think you screwed up your drive.
I know it isn't your fault but did your boat have the tag by the shifters that said not to shift unless the engines were at idle.
Doing other than that will cause drive damage. WELL inadvertantly you did just that.

Default Check cables first

I had mine stuck in forward with the handle in neutral.
Had to drive home and pull in the slip with no neutral
or reverse, idle speed is faster than you think. Was
a cable that came loose, easy fix. Hope your so lucky.
