Default 42 Staggered speed vs. HP

Anyone have a rough idea of what kind of HP it takes to push a large step 42 to 100MPH, 120MPH, and 140MPH?

Here is the set up. '98 Hull with staggered configuration, ASD7's and full cabin. I'm in the process of starting my engine build for next season, and I want to make sure that I'm making the right parts decisions to start a strong foundation for the engines.

Newer 42's with 700 Mercs are running over 100, I would think you can do the same even with hull changes over the years with 800hp no problem. I hope to find out for sure in the spring.

I don't know why, but it occurred to me last night to search YouTube. It seams that the boats running 700's are in the 105-110 range and the 1075 boats are 125-135 or so.

Now I'm left to wondering this. How much more speed can a boat pick up running Arnesons vs. #6's?

The arnesons are good for 7-9 on a 525 big step 42. I would think
with big power 5 mph would be reasonable number to expect

700 and sixes 110+ 1075 135+ you always have to take into consideration the boats setup. You can take a 525 boat and make it 700 hp and it wont run like a 700 boat that was built as a 700 boat.
