Ok. I'm looking at 42s. All years from early 90s to early 2000s. I know twin step staggered is free speed. Trust me that weighs heavily.
Here's my question. Would say a 93 42 with twin 502 mag mpis 415 run 70?
I don't want triples at all. I've been doing some research and the 502s can be built fairly easily to mid 500hp.
So if a straight bottom 42 will run 70 with 415s, what would said boat run with 550ish a side?
Just a few questions as I'm trying to finish up a divorce and figure which route I may wanna go.
Thanks guys.
Mike

When finishing up a divorce, you should buy a fishing boat and take her fishing. Have her hold a bucket of chum and give her a shove overboard. Oh wait, thats what I should have done. Yea my wife cheated on me and I loose everything ,cause thats fair. Not that I'm bitter about it tho. Just kidding. I hope you have better luck than I did in my divorce.

Mine is easier i guess. I have her all furniture a lump sum of cash and I get all the bills. We have no kids so that helps

I don't think a straight bottom 42 with 502 mags will quite hit 70. Probably just shy of it. But, it is a great hull to add power too, then again, all fountains are! With 550HP per side, Id say at most mid 70's.

Thanks MT. Was looking at newer staggered setups but thinking I don't want a big payment so wondering how I'd do with a straight bottom. Finding some nice ones for sale in upper 30s low 40s. How much power do you think it would take to hit 80 in a side by side straight bottom 42?

Back for mores is? Why? That is a nice 42.
ICU,
There is a guy on the board that bought the side by side with blown 454's in it from Shogren. I think the owner was on here and said low 70's.
The guy that bought it lives in Ft Myers, do a search here maybe you can PM him.
Don't know what he went by,,,,,,
