Fever models

Is it me or is the Fever just Fountains red headed step kid? Is there any order to what models are the better or lesser models?

HyFive578 01-31-2014 06:57 AM

The Fevers were the older models and were 38' and under and got superceded by the Executioner. Not sure why you think they are inferior; they were/are pretty good boats. The lightnings were/are a bit more high end but later models (42's) shared the same hull with the EX's. On the lightnings you will generally find a bit more amenities, particularly a full framed windshield and the engine air induction vents are entirely a different style. EX's will generally be cheaper than comparable model year Lightnings.

Fevers were 27, 29, 32 and 38. No walk around to bow so it had more cockpit. They are nice boats.

And what exactly are you basing your comment on?

Personally, I always preferred the styling of the Fever/Executioner over the Lightning. I like the smoked wind screen vs. the windshield.

I second this

Funny, I'm the exact opposite but it's all about personal taste. The Fever/EX's are badass looking boats no question. The other major difference between the EX's and the LIghtnings is the ability to walk around the deck on the outside of the cockpit although I think on later model EX's that might not be an issue anymore.

The ex has the walk around. Fever doesn't. Fever has more cockpit

In no way was I trying to knock the fever models. The reason that I had asked is now that I have my 32 fever I have started looking at all of the fountain models online and just doing some comparisons. To me it looks like they are usually cheaper than some of the other models with similar size, age and engine options.

I also prefer the full windshield although i have just the wind screen. The previous owner had the side glass painted black, which I really like compared to others that are just smoke.

Really people?

Have any of you followed what Reggie has done over the past decade or two?

Just find it hard to believe this chit.

JBA 01-31-2014 05:34 PM

I am not following why you are upset?

Gh700xx 01-31-2014 09:23 PM

I LOVE my Fevers '27 & 32" but getting over the windscreen to the bow is a biotch... My Drunk Cousin cracked mine last year and can't find any one in the Pittsburgh PA area to make a new one. The Lighting has the walk around that would be nice. Im on my 3rd Fountain and couldnt be happier. I have two and don't know which one to get rid of cause I like them both

Not upset about anything. Just find it hard to believe all the incorrect info.

Think I got it right. Lightning and ex have the walk around. Fever doesn't. I could type a page on the bottom changes. Anchor lockers windshields, swim ladders and what not.

Bottoms have been discussed at length. Search the forums. But you had the straight bottom. Then in 95 the single step. Which was the lightning and then lighting classic now executioner. Then the twin step lightning step lightning. 42s were a little different as they had the the big twin step then the regular. I believe 42 ex and lightning share the same bottom. That's the jist. Some of these threads have years of all the changes and exactly what the change was. I think the final bottom for the 42 was 04 or 05. Prior to that they were changed a good bit.

This isn't all the bottom info but its a little of it.

boatnt 02-01-2014 11:55 AM

yea thanks,

I know the 32s had a change in step somewhere around 97-98 as well

29Fever01 02-01-2014 10:54 PM

As far as windshields go, has anyone built/ bought anything that helps with climbing over the windshields on the fever models? Like it was stated before, it is pretty easy to take a fall and damage the windshield. I might try and make a step that will go into the grab handle on the passenger side. Anyone done anything like this?

Wildman_grafix 02-02-2014 07:22 AM

Yea use climb through from the cabin.

32's went from straight to a small step, 95? then went to the larger step in 97-98.

Then sometime in 1999 they moved it. I have a trailer drawing that shows both locations of the big step.
