Default Prop rebuild

I have an '05 27 496HO running a Bravo 28P prop. My boat has a 150 hours on it. The boat does not sit in the water but on a lift. The prop is perfect. Is there any point in having the hub rebuilt since it is almost 10 years old? I have noticed the boat is a couple of mph slower than it was when new. I tried a custom BB prop a few years ago but it slowed the boat down.

Hub rebuilt? Not sure what you are asking. I can tell you that your speed loss may be contributed to weight. What have you added to the boat since new? I'm sure you have things in the boat that you didn't have the first year, it all adds up and can affect the speed of a single engine boat.

Agreed with Bus, I don't understand the Hub rebuilding but I can tell you just because you tried one prop doesn't mean it was the right prop. I went thru 6-8 sets before I got the ones that really are the best for my boat. I have 4 sets that I use depending on what I want the boat to act like. The ones that go the fastest aren't the ones I run all the time. Also you said the boat is what 9-10 years old. As they age they tend to drop HP due to wear and tear. So if you haven't had the engine out and had it freshened up since you have owned it that could very well be the issue.

I am not worried about 2 mph. The boat still hits the same RPM it did when new. I don't think its down on power. I rarely run top end anyway. I am the only one who enjoys it. My GF thinks 35 mph is fast. LOL.

The biggest thing that I added to my boat was letting my kids grow up -- From little hunks of protoplasm that rode along when small -- they are now quite mature -- that additional weight (of course I likewise contributed to that weight gain) DOES contribute to somewhat slower top end speed.

LOL, my weight hasn't changed. I don't carry that much in the boat.

Have you tried replacing fuel filters. I had about 250 hours on my 496's and had forgotten to change the fuel filters in the fuel pump assembly on the engine. Did that and changed the plugs and gained my 3-4 mph that I had lost.
