Default 1998 Fountain Fever 500HP

Good morning!

I found a 1998 Fountain Fever with twin 500hp's. The owner seems to have lost interest and did not use the boat last year. It's garage kept He did however run the engine on the muff's several times and kept the fluids up. They have about 400 hours. All original
I realize I will need to have some money set aside for repairs.
I plan on doing a leak down test.
Advise please. Flushing coolers and changing fuel filters to start

Thanks

I would say you need to replace the valve springs right away.

And the exhaust. My exhaust went bad at 350 hours on the stock set up and filled my motors full of water. Once we got into the repair it turned into a $42,000 build of two motors. If the exhaust is the stock iron exhaust replace it right away if the motors are worth it. I'm putting stainless marine on my new motors this time. Go to my thread on this forum and you can see what bad exhaust causes. Its the 500 EFIs build by Potter Performance thread. I put the pictures of what the motors in my 32' Fever looked like when we pulled them down. You can also see what 400 hours of normal wear looks like on the intake and heads. My boat is and has been a salt water boat just a FYI.

Man that a sweet 27 Fever Too Tall. I almost bought one of those before I ran into the deal on my 32' Fever. The guy who had my 32 was about to loose it to the bank and I hit the deal just in time to get it for pay off. I felt a little bad about it but on the other I hand I saved him from loosing it back to the bank as well. Poor guy was really sorry to see me leave with it.
