Water Pressure Gauge
1 Attachment(s)
Any ideas on what is causing this? It's almost as if the needle has been moved. It rises & falls just the same amount as my starboard side but just doesn't start at zero. Ordered new sensor but I think its the gauge.

Pretty sure that's a mechanical gauge, does it have a rubber line running to it ?
Probably froze due to not being drained when winterizing. If it sweeps the same as the other gauge, your pressures are probably the same for each motor. Replacing the gauge would fix it. How is the new boat otherwise ? |
If the fitting in the back of the gauge that the hose is connected to has rotated from its original position, it will throw off the zero setting. if the gauge is still reading consistently but off the zero setting, this is most likely the reason. If you rotate the fitting gently while watching the needle, you can get it back to zero. Had this exact same issue.

Yes, there is a rubber line running to the back of the gauge. I'll try to rotate the fitting as HyFive578 recommended & see what happens. It seems to work fine, just not starting at zero. Other than a few minor things like the gauge all is well. Runs great. Takes a bit to get used to the left hand controls lol. A group of us from the south end are planning on coming up to the cove for the 4th. If you're around you can check it out.
Thanks guys for the help. |
That's good info - I hadn't run across this issue before. Probably very easy to create the problem when disassembling to flush that hose out.

Glad you like the boat. The Cayuga Lake Poker Run is July 5th. Starts noon at Hibiscus with stops at O'Malleys, Wolffy's, and ends at Deerhead. You guys should plan on coming that day.
|
Kelly,
1st I've heard of any run on Cayuga. Tell us more or you or someone possibly start a thread on the Poker Runs forum. Never been on Cayuga but have wanted to so I don't know any of the stops you mentioned. |

Anyone know where to get this water pressure gauge? I'm not finding exactly the same ones on the Livorsi website. Tried to fix it but I cant get it to go back to zero.

Yes, O'Malley's is second stop then it comes back north. I know that is opposite of what would be best for you. |

I will try to scan the flier I saw, if we get a bunch of us together we can have a great time with this event. |
I called Livorsi today. Just as an FYI for anyone who has this style gauge, I was told they have been discontinued only only have a few left.

My gauges are not exact same as ones here, have the monster series, but on the first time out for the season this past saturday one of my water pressure gauges acted the same, functioned more or less normal with the exception that it read way high. So what is the fix here? Can something be diddled with on the back of the gauge to correct this? Chit can the gauge and start new? What is the deal here?

These are the same gauges I have in my Fountain as well. You know I could be wrong but I'm thinking that those gauges don't hit zero because the water pump pressure doesn't completely shuts down. In other words if your motors are sea water cooled like mine are just because the thermal state is closed the pumps are still pumping water threw your manifolds all the time. This is why its not hitting zero. When the thermal state closes mine drop down to something like 5 or 7 lbs. When open they are around 21 to 25 pounds. If you watch your water temp gauge when the water pressure drops to almost zero the temp shoots up. They will hit like 190 to 200 depending how hard your running and the pumps will kick in again. But think about this for a minute. Where would the pressure go if those pumps were completely shut down by the thermal state?? Unless you have some sort of pressure relief valve that I don't have Zero is never be the correct reading on your sea pumps. I think your gauges are fine just like they are. Let me know thoughts!

You're basically rotating the gauge in the case so you have to do that pretty gingerly. You do not want to rotate it past zero or you might damage the gauge.

Let me know that the knew ones are the exactly the same when you get them installed!! It doesn't make sense to you that the sea pump is always pumping water? Hell the read the instructions that come with the new ones for installation. Don't think you will find anything about adjusting the reading on the gauge.

Is 'thermal state' Floridian lingo for 'Thermostat?'

Port side block drain is where mine is connected. Beside draining the gauge of water, it's also nice to blow out all the sediment that gets in the hose.

Thanks but have 525 EFI's, closed cooling here.
Anyone have the answer? |
