I live on a freshwater lake and my dock will only take up to the 29 and like you said the 27 does everything I want it to do and I already own it.

I like a 29 better than a 27. 29 is better balanced and faster with the same power . 29 planes better any day of the week . but it sounds like a lot of work.

I have been thinking the same thing almost. But I have been looking for a 29 with stock power, swap my power into it and sell the 27 with the 29 power in it. What power does your 27 have.

HP 500. Wipple charger with inner cooler.

I like projects. I know the motor so id had to get another high horsepower motor and know nothing about its history.

I think they are very much alike and I hade the same thought about trading from a 32 to a 35 just not much difference. and why put your self through that. Hassel keep it.

If you like winter projects then go for it. I think you could find a 496HO motor and drive used, put it in the 27 and get more for it. When I bought my boat new a 29 was 50K more and I just couldn't see it. If you put the tabs down and the drive in my '27 jumps on plane very quickly. Just over a minute. I doubt a '29 hops up on plane much faster.

Mine gets on plan great fully loaded. The top end and rough water is the issue. Like the more room in the. 29 and still be a single engine boat.

I am going to keep the 27 until I'm ready to upgrade to a twin engine boat. I like the swim ladder and anchor locker on mine. Also I'm pushing my 1500 silverado's limits with this 27 so I should be satisfied with what I have. Thanks guys for the input.

Ultimately that's why I didn't upgrade to a '29. In my application it was no real advantage.

I think thats the best idea. You would be going through a lot of work to get a boat thats only 2 feet longer, IMO.

Whats the story with the 29 and no engine?
