Keep or trade? 27' to 29'
My 27' is a 2000 model. Trailer has disk brakes. Boat has shore power, ac, battery charger, and tv. XR drive.

Trailer has drum brakes. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e6...7/DSCN0026.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e6...7/DSCN0023.jpg Both boats are in great condition. My 27 is probably a little nicer with the glass windshield and being newer. I would be keeping the motor and so would the other owner. I would need to sell mine without power and buy his. Should I try to do this or keep my 27?? How much would each boat be worth without power? Probably need better pics but just wanting a good estimate. Going to the cumberland poker run has got me wanting my 29 back. Am I crazy? I wish this thought never crossed my mind but oh well. |
Scroll both ways on the 29 pics. There are more.
I also have to weigh the fact I would be losing the anchor locket and step ladder. |
Crazy idea if you ask me for a few reasons. I guess its half the battle if the owner would sell it to you and without power. Bigger question or issue is selling yours without power, not as big of a market for that. A 27 with power in 2000 is probably going for 40ish and probably the same for the 29 maybe a little less. Good hulls no power or rigging from what I have seen going for 10-15 in that class. Your boat I think you would be lucky to get 20 without power, less with no rigging.
Seems like a hassle to me. keep what you have or sell your boat whole and move on. |
I like the 29, IMO.
With that said, tell the owner of the 29 that he can have the motor and sell me the boat and you can keep the 27... :daz: |
Not sure what you would gain in the '29. I have looked at this a lot of times. On a lake you get about a foot more cockpit room. Your boat is going to be hard to sell with no power. On a lake I don't see the point in doing a '29 if you are going to have the same power.
Also if you launch with the trim tabs down it will keep the bow down when you launch. |

Yeah, I know people do it but pretty easy to overpower a '27 or '29 or that matter.
I thought about some more speed but I run at top end about 1 percent of the time and I am really the only person who enjoys it. |
I don't run it much either but I get bored with things too easy. Need to get this idea out of my head. My 27 is a really nice boat.
|
I'd keep it unless you just wanted a bigger boat. We looked at 29's when we were selling our 27'. Just not enough change for us, so we went for the 35'. ...now wishing we would have just went ahead and got a 42'!:grinser010:

DO IT! I'd be interested in 27 with no power!
