I see 75 everyday regardless of load or conditions and 78 being not uncommon. GPS speeds. Although the speedo was only off by 1 the last time I compared it
Runnng 26 Hydros turning out. I saw 0-1 speed loss when swapped from in to out. I prefer out myself. |
Check your indicators, 3 should be neutral. Maybe you are not trimmed like you think.

I have a 99 with 502s spinning in,when I bought the boat it came with 26 bravos I would see 76-77 ,,I bought a set of bravo 28 labbed and I was able to get 78-79 out of it but I did notice it took a little longer to get on plane ,mid range was also better with the bravo 26s,,I called Fountain and they emailed me the performance report and they got 77 out of it when it was built with Hydromotive 26s spinning in,everyone I talked too said the boat will run better with Hydromotives,,I just bought a set of 26 Hydros,,I will try them in the spring and see how they perform .

I'm sure I'm not as good of a driver as Reggie was, but he got 79 with hydros when new, maybe a little more trim would have helped

I've got a 99' 32' with 500 EFI's and it runs 80-85mph.

I took the boat out again the other day, and trimming it from all the way in up until you can start to hear them slip which is about 6, I trimmed down and got 74 by myself, and constantly getting 72. Moving tabs from 3 to all the way up made no difference. Boat was 1/4 tank or less running 49-5000rpm

You should be at neutral tabs in flat water. If you are not turning 5000- 5300 rpms check compression or do a leak down on it. How many hrs on motor. You are turning ( in) this lifts the back end of the boat. So I would say your sweet spot is around 4 1/2 - 5 on trim in flat with 2 tabs. In the snot you should be around 2 1/2 trim with 3- 31/2 tab. |
Something to think about......Saltwater or freshwater, altitude, ambient air temp, all come into play. I'm sure if if took my boat from Chicago freshwater 650ft above sea level, to florida saltwater at sea level, I'd pick up a little.
And as a bonus, I'd generally not be such a crabby fuker if I was down there sipping margaritas with some of those hot skanky puerto rican broads. |
