42 Fountain getting Mitcher T'd
Don't mean to overload this site with posts, but I'm pretty excited about this boat. Its like a dream come true to have Mitch painting a boat that I'm going to get to call my own. I had to share it with some people who appreciate this kind of thing. Mitch came up with the design after I sent him pics of a couple different boats I liked, we tweaked it a little bit and this is what its going to look like.
http://i1374.photobucket.com/albums/...psba7f6af8.jpg The cockpit carpet and dash panel will not be purple. Thanks in advance for your positive comments! and if you have negative comments thanks in advance for keeping them to yourself ;) (too late for changes) |
Almost makes me want to have one. We"ll be looking for you this summer. It will be another one of Mitchers fine pieces of art floating around Lake St Clair
|
Looks great!
Mitcher T has done some of my favorite Fountains. Would love to haul mine out there and have him take a run at it. Your deal would work great, I have the purple cockpit carpet now. |
Simple, not over done, good choice, and don't be concerned about the thread its refreshing and not a ( if I use this cam will I make 900 HP ) lol, good luck with the build
|
Congrats it looks great!

|
Looks great! Can't wait to get mine back..

If you don't want to answer this I totally understand but I am very curious. How much does a paint job like this cost approx..? I had my last boat which was a 27' Fountain wrapped with vinyl graphics and I was just curious as to how the price compares if at all..
|
Yeah I would rather let Mitch answer that if he wants to. I'll just say that as far as price and value I had heard that Mitch was fair but he has been better, extremely reasonable and tried to keep the cost down where he could. It is worth calling him if you are considering paint work at all.
Thanks everyone! |
Mitch does the design work, some shadowing and airbrush work and you pay a premium for his signature on it. I was quoted $5300 for a 28 to be painted white and I did all the prep work. Not reasonable in my book. Sorry.

Yes I did. He was the most expensive by $1500. I ended up wrapping the boat because I was flipping it to begin with.
|
Mitch painted my 41 apache this fall and did a great job, he did exactly what he said and the price stayed where it was quoted. It's hard to put a price tag on perfection, that may lie with each individuals taste and budget. Some may be pleased with a simple paint job done by any collision shop done in one color, Mitch and his team is a custom design and paint shop not fixing rust spots on vehicles which is a big difference. The paint material alone with painting a boat is very expensive let alone all the prep work involved. The moral of this is Mitcher T does great work and I'm a very satisfied customer with the service he provided for me. All in all as the old expression goes you get what you pay for and if it was easy everyone would be able to do it! Your fountain looks great and I hope you enjoy it!
|
If you don't mind sharing, what's the price tag. I'm looking into either paint or wrap. Got prices for wraps
|
Drew, the cost varies per application and design. It will depend on the rendering that you decide to go with and how elaborate or basic the design is. Best bet contact Mitch and discuss your options. The wrap is definitely the cheaper way to go however if you raft off a friend or your anchor line rubs the wrap it will start to tear. Id make a pros and con list and determine how long you want to keep the boat or if its a flip and then see if the juice is worth the squeeze!
|
I had my 27' Fountain completely wrapped and it looked awesome but was not great for tying up with other boats etc...fenders or ropes that rubbed on it would start to make the laminate on the wrap come off. Not to mention when it was really hot out it would come off even easier.
Wrapping a boat is by far way cheaper than any paint job but it is just not as durable. |
ive seen wraps .and they seem dingy kind of .. cost effective i guess but ... i dont think thats my cup of tea ... anything rubbing on anything is going to do damage either way .. and for the fella bashing mitch on price ... well you get what you pay for .. my paint is two seasons old and looks like it did when it came home from mitch ... dude is awsom .. hell i gave him two extra k i loved it so much , worth every penny ... and quarter smiles all .. spring is in the air .. oops not in wi . -15 tonight without wind chill ... maybe next week .

Will Mitcher do a stock factory paint job over>
