Fountain Dash
Hey guys I'm looking to replace the guages, anything I can do to put a little life back into my faded dash? Spoke with fountain today and they were after an arm and leg for a new one, mines not too bad off just didn't want to wreck all the writing on it.
Thanks in advance! |

Just curious what did Fountain want for a new one? If you find a good source for them (no luck on eBay for mine) post details please!

I may have a like new white one out of a 42 ex. May put a carbon fiber one in.
|
Fountain was 1500-1800
|
Yeah none of them on eBay will work on mine
|
Call Steve at Innotech... http://www.innotechproducts.com. He has all of the specs for Fountain dashes and can make anything out of carbon fibre. I bought one from him last year and he is the BEST!!

Hmm...I want blue but will it work for a 32? My gauge placement is not what I want currently. Any pics? Ouch! That is ridiculous for a piece of metal with some holes cut and simple one coler silk screening! Iv'e heard that before and emailed him a week ago and no response....?? I don't need any fancy material just a newer style gauge layout and for it to be blue with white or silver screening. I guess he's either too busy to respond or my project isn't fancy enough lol |

If you are just looking for panels - the folks at New Wire Marine (Charleston) can fab some up as well out of lots of different material. They can also change the layout to your spec if so desired, add backlighting, etc. http://newwiremarine.com/ also on facebook.
I had them redo 3 panels for a donzi, and a friend has his main gauge panel being redone for a fountain right now. |

Don't be discouraged with him. This time of year is incredibly busy for him. He makes a lot of the carbon fibre dashes for boat manunfacturers and the 2 months leading up to the Miami boat show he's running flat out to get them all what they want for the show. Just keep trying.. he does great work and is a pleasure to deal with.

If you're only talking about the coloured dash panels for the instrument panels, I replaced all the panels on my 34 cc with Livorsi panels last year. They have the patterns for most popular makes and models.
All cut and labelled correctly, perfect fit and look great. They even organised freight for me. (I am in Thailand) It will take you a while to fit with so many gauges and switches, just make sure you do a sensational job of labelling everything you disconnect and take your time. Can't speak highly enough of them. RR |

How much was the panel they made you?
My panels are silver carbon fibre. Price was for a full set which means 5 panels. Gauges, accessory switches, tabs/drive switches, glove compartment lid and battery selector switches. You can order individual panels but I needed the full set 'cos I was replacing the old white powder coated ones. RR |

Do they do screening also? Any info on what they are charging him for his Fountain?
Give them a call and talk to them - they are very friendly and helpful. I think the fountain main panel (gauges and steering wheel cutout) is about $500 (without backlighting but with custom layout). My 3 panels (toggle switches etched and backlit, tach/speedo w/ custom Donzi etched & backlit, and main gauge strip) were less than $500. I sent a template of my panels traced - my friend sent the entire panel. I think price will be about material choice, and degree of difficulty but they seem very reasonable. |

Not sure what screening is in this context - you mean labeling the switches and/or gauges? If so, yes. They can etch and backlight too - depending on panel space your taste. I think if you go to their facebook page you can get some ideas of their work, as well as the website. Hard to see on my pic - but the toggle switch panel has etched and backlit labels and the Tach/Speedo panel has an etched/backlit logo.

Pic of current dash

Slowride that looks taller than mine and may have a "cutout" from the right upper corner so it wouldn't work. Why replace it?! It looks nice!!
|
Still have not pulled the trigger yet. Boat is currently getting a complete paint job, top and sides. Not sure yet if I will change the dash to put some more color on the interior too. Should have the boat back in 2-3 weeks, hopefully.
I also may try to fit a smaller 7xx Garmin where the original speedo is if I put a new panel in. That would be another reason. Ben |
Who's painting it? Any pics
|
^^ I think that is a good reason. All the cool kids have those in their dash I've been noticing. What would worry me about making a dash with one of those in it is that when it was time to upgrade (as technology always does) or if it broke years later would you be able to find another one of the same size to fit the hole or would you need to have another dash made to fit what ever was next? I don't know enough about those to know if they are standardized sizes. But it would be an even better reason to cut the hole larger and get a bigger one! I like your dash I think crazy designs and paint schemes on them is very distracting from the overall style and function if that makes sense.

Yes the "screening" I mentioned referred to the labeling of everything like the OE panel. That does sound reasonable and I like reasonable!! Lol I'm calling Livorsi first since they have the layouts already but they are next on my list if I don't like what they $ay. Thanks for the info! That backlighting is SWEET!
I think Livorsi actually gets the panels from Innotech. |

Hydro-film dip. Remove your current panel and clean it real good (Smooth surface. NO SCRATCHS) and have a custom pattern made and printed on it and hit local sign/print shop and they can make all your little labels. All for around $300. Not counting your new gauges.
|
I forgot about hydro dipping! Too bad I need a panel with a different gauge layout. An excellent idea for those who just need to freshen things up though!
|
A carbon Fibre panel for a 32 was something like $700 I think a couple years ago when i called Innotech, I'm sure the standard colored panels are a bit less. What kinda different lay out are you looking for?

Quoted from Livorsi web page......
"Our panels provide the perfect backdrop for your gauges. One of a kind or 100, send us a dimensional drawing or send in your existing panel and we’ll do the rest. Choose from aluminum with a powder coat finish, true carbon fiber or stainless steel. For a quote please call 847-752-2700" Link http://www.livorsi.com/catalog/dash_panels.htm Don't know if they source the panels elsewhere or not but they seem to have a handle on things. Worth a call. I'm taking a different route with my dash panel, gonna try out a idea we have and see how well it turns out. I'll let yall know on the cost after completion! But should be fairly inexpensive. Going to use a plexi glass panel with all the wording etched in after being painted with LED backing to illuminate all the labels and halo the shifter/throttles along with the indicators.

Sorry for the wild goose chase but at least you can cross it off the list now! Good luck in the search........... RR |
