Default 2007 42 fountain staggered 525's. Questions

Looking for any owners with this set up to provide Mph numbers On light on fuel and also loaded down. Curious the mph differences. Thank you looking to buy one in the next week.

My 2004 42 ran 80-81 fresh water. Run it real light you could go a tick or two faster. The 2007 should run 85-86 light, a little less loaded. I'm pretty sure they ran x-dimension a little higher in 2007, so it should run well with some 5 blades.

ITS or standard XR? I do not have the ITS and it runs low 80's. Mine is a 2005. I think the ITS will add a few mph.

If your talking about the one at P57, it is a very nice boat. I'd have bought that over my 05 except it is the exact same paint as a friend I boat with.

Yes it is the one at pier 57. Looks nice, I'm headed up to take a look next week. For the guys with 42's have you had any drive problems with the 42's and xr's? I had not heard of an issue but one gentleman told me he broke drives 3 times in 4 years. Is this something I should be concerned about? I have owned fountains and know it's all how you drive them but any feedback appreciated.

I am new to 42's but that sounds strange. Alan at P57 said the ITS version is faster but harder on drives and props due to the higher x.

I'd think the main thing is how you drive and maintain. Good luck on the purchase. It is a nice piece. Maybe we will see you in it at Tickfaw!!!

One nice thing about that boat is it has the new style cmi exhaust which I didn't realize until later.

We will be at ticfaw for sure. Thanks for input, what's different about exhaust and how can you tell? Anything else I should be looking for when I go to Chicago to check out this boat?

I am not sure on all details of how to tell but all 2007 have new style. New style is less likely to leak.

I'd have a survey/sea trial if possible. Then buy it. It's a super clean boat on a nice trailer.
