At the end of this summer I will be due for a refresh on the top end of my 500efi. I have been in touch with Jason at performance marine and I'm thinking about going a little farther with it. I'm thinking about upgrading to aluminum heads, 525 cam, aero motive fuel pump, and of course dyno time for ecu remap. Jason is claiming 570 hp, it will virtually be a clone of a 525 without closed cooling, and with a different fuel map. Food for thought without a super charger.

O K decided not to do anything to this 496 ho however still have an issue with a lot of black carbon on the back of the boat after running it for very little time. Is it octane related? has anyone else had this same issue? no codes on my computer. reflash at Whipple stage 1 or 2 ?

The solution to the soot may be to change the intake manifold gasket: follow this thread

Start with your battery... if it is old replace it.... those motors go into guardian mode (full rich) if they do not have enough battery....
