So your gopro can better catch you throttling like a mad fool!!!! (this is just before your bikini clad babes bounce around the cockpit like a pinball game as you spin the boat and become an internet sensation!!)
P.,S. you DO NOT want to be THAT guy.......

MCpro is correct I think. If you look at the original fountains, they were side by side bolsters. If things got hairy driver could have both hands on the wheel and co pilot could throttle. Race inspired.

On a centre console, the helm is to the left but the throttles are on the right. When someone else drives my boat, I can stand/sit to their right and keep an eye/hand on the throttles, drive trim and tabs. I'm not an expert and my boat is not fast compared to most Fountain sports boats but I do like to keep a bit of control when someone inexperienced is steering.
BTW, as an Aussie driving on the LHS of the road, I've always wondered how Americans and most Europeans manage to change gears with your right hand when you drive a car? You probably wonder how I manage with the left hand. It's the only way I've ever know for over 30 years! I guess you just get used to it either way......
