Default Bilge pump under the cabin step. Is this normal?

Hey Guys

I have a new to me 2001 35 Lightning. Under the cabin step is a bilge pump. Is this normal? It doesn't appear that I can control the on and off with a switch to this one so it must have a sensor. Any feedback would be great.

Thanks

He's right I have it on my 47' mainly because Fountains accumulate water in this area. For years i have been wondering where this water comes from...................................I still don't know. Some say it's from the bow rail but i get a small amount even when runnning on the water. Something I live with in fact I just replaced mine and put a new manual/auto switch.

Yup. Boggles my mind where the water comes from. the cooler did drain into the hull while the sink drains to the outer hull. still haven't a clue where the water comes from.

I think mine comes in from washing or getting caught in the rain on occasion. I pump it out frequently. I have a fridge, no cooler - I'm not sure where the fridge drains to - assuming that it does drain??

I just had my windshield cut down last week, and asked the shop to seal any holes under the frame, as well as run a bead under the frame. We'll see if that helps any.

If not, i suspect that the bow rails are the culprit. I really don't want to get into that, as I believe alot of the interior needs to be removed to get to the bolts/nuts.

Before this issue is resolved we will find Jimmy Hoffa. We bought a real small shop vac just for that puddle.

Hi guys I have a 32 that when ever I leave it at a shop for repair if they don't keep the bow high all the time on the trailer I get water. Last week I picked it up from shop it was dry and launched it and found at the end of the day I had 40 gallon under the engines of fresh water. and I boat in salt water.
