Soo a few weeks ago I bought a 42 lightning that had been stored in a barn with no doors and no cover on her for 4-5 years. One engine is down, the other to my delight fired right up. I spent a few hours scrubbing this mess and gave up! Its all getting replaced. Started pulling engines today. I will post pics as i do work, mostly weekend project. I can not wrap my mind around how anyone pays this much for something and just lets it got to hell like this. Oh well his loss.

Wow! That is freakin wild. I can see that happening with an older 42, but a 525 boat is crazy! Did it ever go under? I hope you bought it right and it turns out to be a great boat for you. Good job

Never went under. Everything electrical on the boat works fine. Its a fresh water boat with a couple of tours to the Destin poker run with the FPC. The port engine lost oil pressure and it went to hell after that. Not sure what is wrong with the engine yet. I am ready to set them out and tear them down. The crusty old gen set fired right up and ran like a champ. I bought it right, i can part it out if need be, but lets save that for a last resort.

Well its painted not a wrap. It kinda grows on you. I wanted an American flag boat but this one came up first. She seems pretty solid other than the filth. I took a huge risk to get this deal, it was dead in the barn, no power and we couldn't get the engine hatch to open. I had to take his word on the 525efi and generator. Turns out a shorted out battery will keep the shore power from operating any 12v functions.

Found it here. Taco racing is his screen name. The boat belonged to his friend/acquaintance. John/taco seems like a stand up guy i hope to meet him and buy him a drink for hooking me up.

I'd clean her up, fix the motor that's down, and rock that b!tch at least one season. Take some time to enjoy her while you decide exactly what you want to do. Congrats on an awesome find on a great boat, staggered at that.
