Default 2008 35 Staggered 525 + XRSSM Boat - Water Pickup Question

Hi,

I have a basic question about the setup / rigging on this "new to me 2008 staggered 35" - does this boat draw water from anywhere else but the nose cone of the drives (XR SSMs)? I have a saltwater flush as well as sea strainer setup.

The reason I ask is because I see 3 designed in holes below the water line (while not on plane) which are interesting to me. One on each side of the hull (Port and Starboard) as well as one on the bottom side of the notchback in the transom- which is pointed vertical, so straight down at the bottom of the lake.

I would appreciate anyone's insight as to what these are for and how it works - and if it is a part of the water pickup or something different.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Jeremy

The one in the bottom is a aeration tube for the notch. The ones in the sides come off of the sea strainers to bleed off excess pressure.

Thanks CIM - much appreciated. This is what we were suspecting today while winterizing it for the first time.

I wonder how the system doesn't suck air through the side holes at low speeds when its not spitting water out of it?

Interesting you mention this. I had that problem with the strainer dumps. It would suck air and affect my water pressure at speed. I ended up closing the gate valve at the overboard dump. Problem solved.
