Default JL MX650 vs MX770 to replace logo lights

Prev owner installed 6x9's under the bench seat and in the side walls under the front seats. The bass is OK but the mids-highs are very weak unless you're laying on the floor. I need to get some speakers mounted up higher.

I hate to remove the Logo lights and replace with speakers, but I don't see any other options short of building something on the dash..
I would like to maintain the option to go back with the logo lights so I don't want to cut out too much.

From what I have read, the MX650's need very little if any cutting but may need a spacer /LED ring.
The MX770's will need some cutting for sure, but not sure how much.

If I go with the MX770's, will I be able to re-install the logo lights later if desired?

Any other suggestions?

Thx in adv.

I did 7.7's to replace the lights on a 27' Fever. I did have to install LED trim rings as the 7.7's are pretty deep. The lights left a black ring/mark on the white vinyl (from what looked like electrical tape??). It wouldn't come off - so the 7.7's almost completely covered the black marks.

Get the M650's or the M770's they are better and handle more power than the MX series.

I saw those. They cost almost twice as much. Are they twice as good as the MX series? The specs are pretty close between them.
I'm only running 100 WPC (RMS) and I'm not expecting to be able to hear them very well above abt 50 mph anyway.
We have a little one in the boat abt 90% of the time, so super loud is not the goal. Just want clean full sound.

I pulled the upholstery from where the logo lights are. I hadn't pulled the logo lights out before so I wasn't sure what I would be dealing with. Turns out the logo lights anchor to their own wooden ring that floats between the upholstery backboard and the fiberglass. Re-installing the logo lights shouldn't be an issue if I decide to do so in the future.

On my boat. the fiberglass already has a ~5" hole for a speaker (looks to be factory cut) but that won't be big enough since I went with the MX770's which need a 6.25" hole.
I think the MX650's might have fit without any having to enlarge the hole in the fiberglass.

The hole thru the upholstery and backing board looks like it may not need any further enlargement.
Speakers are on their way. Can't wait to hear them..

I did the 8.8's. Painted the grills to match the covers for the previous holes.

I have two 8.8's by the front seat down low, two 10's under the bench, and the 2 8.8's in the old light holes. I am very happy.

My old stereo had separate tweeters which is why I had to go with the tear drop cover.
